NZ voted world's best five years in a row

NEW ZEALAND has been voted the best country on earth for the fifth year in a row in the world’s largest customer travel survey.

The British love affair with the Aotearoa continues with 87,220 readers voting in this year’s Telegraph Travel Awards, the largest number of responses since the awards were established in 1998.

New Zealand’s nearest rivals for “Best Country’ in the awards were the Maldives ranked 2nd and South Africa 3rd. Australia came in at 6th place.

The Telegraph Reader Awards are among the longest running and most prestigious in the industry giving readers a voice in recognizing those in the travel sector who they feel have made the biggest impact over the past year.

  • The United Kingdom is New Zealand’s fourth largest international tourist market
  • Half of the UK visitors to #NewZealand have already been here at least once before, and around three-quarters (73.2 per cent) visit regions beyond the main tourist centres.
  • In the year ending October 2017, 113,264 UK visitors enjoyed a holiday here, staying an average of 24.9 days.
