Online Travel Community names New Zealand Destination of the Year

NEW ZEALAND has been named a Destination of the Year by Qyer, a major Chinese free independent traveller online community with 80 million users.

This is the second year in a row that #NewZealand has won a premium award, which are based on users’ itineraries and reviews and Qyer’s official recommendation.

A Qyer spokesperson said: “New Zealand has more than just a pure and epic landscape, it also has a unique culture and budding food scene. Its diversified outdoor products and itineraries satisfy interests and needs of different people. It is an ideal #destination for family, couples or individuals.”

Tourism New Zealand’s General Manager Asia David Craig said the award shows how well regarded New Zealand has become in China.

“New Zealand is popular in China with over 400,000 Chinese visitors coming to New Zealand a year. Qyer is an increasingly common way for Chinese free independent travellers to investigate countries to visit. Being so well regarded by this online community is a real boost to New Zealand tourism.”

The award, provided in late January, was also given to seven other destinations – Iceland, Kansai, Western USA, Spain, UK, Norway and Reunion Island.
