Cathay Pacific to launch Washington DC service

CATHAY Pacific will connect Hong Kong with the capital of the United States of America for the first time in late 2018, as it continues to grow its network by launching pioneering nonstop routes.

The airline will commence a four-times-weekly service to Washington DC in September next year, which will complement its existing routes to the East Coast, including Boston and New York’s two main international airports – John F Kennedy and Newark Liberty.

The service to Dulles International Airport, which will become the longest on the Cathay Pacific network in terms of distance at 7,085 nautical miles (8,153 miles, 13,122 kilometres), will be operated by the all-new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.

Up in the air . . . Dublin bound

RYANAIR has new flights from Munich and Stuttgart to Dublin this winter, as well as the extension of its winter service from Naples into summer 2018.

CATHAY PACIFIC has announced new flights from Hong Kong to Dublin, commencing in June 2018. These new flights will help to boost leisure and business travel from Hong Kong, as well offering excellent connections on Cathay Pacific services from tourism markets like Australia, New Zealand and China and countries in South East Asia – making it easier for prospective holidaymakers to get to Ireland.

On the runway . . .

CATHAY Pacific has announced that it will introduce a new four-times weekly seasonal service between Hong Kong and Barcelona from 2 July 2017 (subject to government approval), offering travellers an exciting getaway destination and directly linking two of the world’s most dynamic cities for the very first time.

Scheduled to operate throughout the peak travel months until October 27 this route complements the airline’s existing four-times weekly service to Madrid.

Fare offer to the Far East

TO promote its latest UK route, #Cathay Pacific is offering discount fares to #Vietnam and the #Philippines from Manchester from £519, and #Australia from £569. 

The fares can be booked from August 22 until midnight on September 30.

The fares are available on Economy, Premium Economy and Business Class tickets from Manchester Airport.

Flying with kids?

WITH the school summer holiday period approaching, Airport Parking and Hotels (APH) has compared facilities available for parents travelling with infants and children on major airlines. The research is available in a comprehensive guide that can be found in the Know Before You Go section of the APH website … at www.aph.com/childrensfacilities. 

The research compares the facilities for infants and children across 20 major airlines including Aer Lingus, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Virgin Atlantic, highlighting the on-board changing facilities, children's meals, difference in cost for a child's ticket, and the rules for children when travelling unaccompanied.

Of the 20 airlines researched, nine airlines charge an infant fare when sitting on a parent's lap at 10% of an adult fare, whereas the remaining 11 airlines allow infants to travel on an adult's lap at no additional cost. Meanwhile, for a child's fare, the rates differ depending on the airline. For example, for travellers flying with American Airlines, a child's fare is 25% of an adult's fare, but with Atlantic Airways, it’s 50%.
