A first for Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH in South Devon is holding its first beer festival this year. 

The one-day event is planned for February 21.

More than 20 real ales from South Hams breweries will be showcased, and there will be opportunities to meet the brewers. Entry £7, which includes a festival beer glass and four half pint beer tokens.

Aren't they doing well...........

  • More jobs in Scottish tourism

THE number of jobs in Scotland’s the tourism sector increased by 29,700 between 2012 and 2013, according to the Business Register and Employment Survey. Employment increased by 16.4 per cent from 181,500 to 211,200.

The largest rises in the number of jobs were in restaurants and mobile food services, which has risen by 19,500.

Tourism Minister Fergus Ewing said: ‘Our strong tourism sector provides over 210,000 jobs and is of significant value to the Scottish economy, making up around five percent of our GDP. Tourism plays a vital role in promoting the Scottish brand, and it is important that we continue to build on our success in this area.’

MORE than 20,000 people attended the three-day Dartmouth Food Festival in October.

Double fests in Devon

THIS year’s 
Dartmouth Food Festival (October 24-26) 
coincides with the 
South Hams Arts Trail (October 18-26) 
which means visitors and residents can explore both the local area's art and foodie cultures.

Both events are free to enter.

Foodies head for Dartmouth

HANDS-ON workshops, cookery demonstrations, topical Eat Your Words sessions and wine seminars…whatever your age there's something to be learnt at this year's free-to-enter Dartmouth Food Festival (October 24-26).

Producers from the South West, as well as some from further afield, are lining up to confirm their attendance: Tideford Organics, South Devon Chilli Farm, Riverford Organic Farmers, The Dartmouth Ice Cream Company, Sharpham Wine & Cheese, Mark Lobb Fish & Game, Dartmouth Butchers and Shaldon Bakery are some of those who have already booked their place and will be showing their products.
