IMAGINE an arts and culture extravaganza where the backdrop is just as impressive as the star performers on stage. Welcome to Festival 2018 – 12 fabulous days of diverse entertainment held in conjunction with the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games from April 4-15. 

The Festival 2018 program features more than 1000 holiday-highlight experiences across the genres of music, theatre, circus, dance, ideas, visual arts and film. It will involve more than 1440 artists from 50 countries. Festival goers will enjoy 35 world premieres and 15 Australian premieres. The program will run from 9am until late each day. 

Many Festival performances will be framed by the spectacular backdrops of the Gold Coast’s world-famous beaches and lush mountain hinterland. Just as impressive, it’s all free! 

The two main Festival sites will be at Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. There also will be roving performers outside stadiums along with interactive art installations and live performances spilling onto beaches and waterways at more than 28 locations across the Gold Coast.

Team Scotland Flying High With Glasgow Airport

COMMONWEALTH Games Scotland is pleased to announce a new partnership with Glasgow Airport as Team Scotland continue preparations for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Glasgow Airport serves almost 10 million passengers per year and will be the departure point for all athletes and staff travelling with Team Scotland to the Gold Coast Games. In the lead up to the Games, Glasgow Airport will proudly display its support of Team Scotland with in-airport branding and will feature the team in High Flyer magazine.

Gold Coast 600

THE Gold Coast roars into action each October when the Virgin #Australia Supercars race into town for the Gold Coast 600. 

On track, the highlight will be the PIRTEK Enduro Cup final in which supercar drivers battle it out on one of the world's toughest street circuits to claim the ultimate endure racing title. 

The world-renowned Super Stadium Trucks will also ramp up the on-track action with the international spectacle joining Porsche Carrera Cup, V8 Utes and Formula 4, supporting all the Supercar action. The Super Stadium Trucks, dubbed 'the monsters on wheels' generate speeds of up to 220km/h, jump man-made ramps, and fly 100 metres through the air, two storeys off the ground. 

Off track, events are just as explosive with a huge concert line-up, which in 2016 included including Aussie electro sensation Peking Duk, Birds of Tokyo, The Rubens and The Living End.

Surfs up, down under

The World Surf League (WSL) is pleased to announce Tourism Events Queensland (TEQ) and the City of Gold Coast have extended their partnership with the World Surf League's Roxy Pro and Quiksilver Pro Championship Tour (CT) events.  Both the women's Roxy and men's Quiksilver competitions kick-off the Samsung Galaxy WSL Championship Tour and begin in March 2017.

#Queensland Minister for Tourism and Major Events Kate Jones said the event would continue to be a feature on TEQ's major events calendar through 2018.

"The Palaszczuk Government is proud to partner with the World #Surf League through TEQ to deliver one of the Gold Coast's signature events," Ms Jones said.

"We're proud to host the best surfers in the world as we open the WSL Championship Tour on the Gold Coast at one of the best surfing breaks in the world at Snapper Rocks.

"These major events are big drawcards for visitors and showcase Queensland to a global audience, promoting our envious beach culture and the relaxed lifestyle of the Gold Coast."
