How to see Parliament ... but not when it’s working

FROM August, the #HousesofParliament in #London adds Brazilian Portuguese as a language option for self-guided audio tours through the House of Commons, the House of Lords, and medieval Westminster Hall. It complements existing audio commentaries in French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, and Mandarin Chinese … plus, of course, English and a screen-based version in British Sign Language.

The audio tours and Blue Badge guided tours, are available on Saturdays throughout the year and on most weekdays during Parliamentary recesses. 

2015 is a special year in which to visit Britain’s Houses of Parliament, with two significant anniversaries being marked: 800 years since the sealing of Magna Carta (1215), and 750 years since Simon de Montfort’s first parliament in 1265.

Tower of London tops TripAdvisor’s UK landmark poll

THE Tower of London has been named the best-rated landmark in the UK – and eleventh in Europe – in the Travellers’ Choice awards for Landmarks announced by TripAdvisor.

Edinburgh Castle came second in the UK rankings.

#London was a big winner in the UK rankings, with six of the UK’s top ten: #TowerofLondon, #BigBen, House of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, and Buckingham Palace taking first, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth place respectively.

Edinburgh ranked as the second-biggest winning city in the UK with two of the UK’s top three landmarks – Edinburgh Castle and Royal Yacht Britannia – taking second and third place.

The Top 10 in the Travellers' Choice world rankings were:
