Old Town gets a make-over

THE TRAVEL CORPORATION has announced the revitalization of Old Town in #Kissimmee, #Florida. Almost three decades after its opening, the shopping complex is being re-developed into a major central Florida destination featuring unique stores, restaurants, and family-friendly amusements.

‘We envision a new era for Old Town and its tenants that will solidify the property as one of central Florida’s ‘must see’ iconic attractions,” said Brett Tollman, the company’s chief executive.

True to its history, Old Town’s weekly classic car cruises are a main attraction, with lengthy parades of pre-1975 hot rods.

The $10 million renovation includes the return of the Old Town Ferris wheel, a visitor favourite that was removed from the location in 2013.

Kissimmee … for a fall break

KISSIMMEE in #Florida isn’t just for summer. It’s an autumn (or for our US cousins, fall) holiday destination, too, say the town’s tourism chiefs.

With cooler temperatures, fewer crowds, and seasonal deals at attractions and accommodations, autumn is the time, they say, to experience all the town has to offer – whether your idea of a vacation is adrenaline-rush adventure, de-stressing by a pool, or out in the country.

Latest attractions include the state's oldest cattle ranches, the Crayola Experience, the World Food Championships and the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.

The destination is known as the Gateway to Fun because of its proximity to Orlando's theme parks and a variety of outdoor attractions.

#Kissimmee has more than 50,000 lodging options include luxury resorts, hotels, and holiday villas.

Experience Kissimmee is giving travellers a chance to take their own one-of-a-kind vacation with a fall sweepstakes available until from August 17 to October 18. Enter to win one of two get-aways: thrills or tranquility. Just for entering, weekly winners will be eligible to receive a prize package at the I-Drive 360 entertainment complex, home of The Orlando Eye. To enter, text either ChillsFL or ThrillsFL to 313131. There’s an entry limit of one per person per day. For eligibility, rules, and complete prize details, visit www.GoodbyeCrowds.com

New thrills in Kissimmee

AUTUMN’S cooler weather is paving the way for new thrills throughout the popular Central Florida destination.
  • The Walt Disney World Resort has a brand new “Frozen” attraction at the Norway Pavilion in Epcot that will replace “Maelstrom.”
Get close to Florida's natural beauty by spending the day at The Paddling Centre at Shingle Creek.

This eco-attraction offers a variety of ways to enjoy natural Florida from tandem kayaks, single kayaks, aluminum canoes, and large paddle boards.

  • The national travelling exhibition Great Balls of Fire lands at the Kennedy Space Centre Visitor Complex and shares the story of the origins of our solar system, asteroids, comets and their possible impacts and risks.
  • The Al-Marah Interactive Horse Experience gives visitors the chance to learn how to care for Arabian horses on an 80-acre property just minutes from the Kissimmee destination. The four-hour programme allows guests to groom, feed, ride, and learn about these animals, regardless of their horsemanship level. Participants must be five years or and older in order to ride.
