LONDON CITY AIRPORT (LCY) has introduced a service – AirPortr – designed to help air travellers travel lighter.

AirPortr provides a luggage transfer service for business as well as leisure travellers. Bookable in advance or on the day, the service incorporates features including applying tamper-secure seals on luggage, real-time GPS tracking and driver profiles.

International and domestic visitors can leave their bags with AirPortr’s on-site concierge on arrival at LCY and head straight to their meeting or event without the need to carry heavy baggage around. The luggage is then delivered to their hotel, office or holiday apartment.

On an outbound journey, the luggage is collected and delivered to the airport ready for passengers arriving for check in.

Flybe takes off for expansion

REGIONAL airline Flybe has signed a five-year agreement with London City Airport to start domestic and international operations there from October. The move is part of a major expansion that will see the airline increase services between the UK regions and Ireland.

New timetables will include four daily services from/to Edinburgh and Dublin, three from/to Belfast and Exeter and twice daily from/to Inverness.  Flybe expects the new routes will appeal to a significant number of Canary Wharf-based passengers who need to access the UK regions and neighbouring European destinations quickly.
