Marriott International crosses Africa

MARRIOTT International has announced rapid expansion plans across #Africa. Strong demand for select-service brands and conversion opportunities are driving the momentum of growth for the company, amplified by five new hotel signings. 

The new signings will further consolidate Marriott International's presence in Ghana, Kenya, Morocco and South Africa and mark the company's entry into Mozambique. The signings put Marriott International on track to increase its portfolio by 50 percent with over 200 hotels and 38,000 rooms by 2023 estimated to generate 12,000 new job opportunities.

Accommodation Chain of the Year

MARRIOT International claimed the esteemed title of Accommodation Chain of the Year award at this year’s HM Awards for Hotel and Accommodation Excellence. The hotel industry’s night of nights proved an overwhelming success for Marriott International, with the company recognised across the board for its commitment to exceptional quality and customer service.

These accolades come at a time of continued growth for Marriott International in Australia and the Pacific region, where the company operates 30 hotels and has a further 21 in the pipeline. Marriott International currently employs over 4,000 throughout ANZP and the current pipeline properties will provide a further 2,500+ new hotel jobs in the region.

W to rise up in the Land of the Rising Sun

W Hotels Worldwide, part of Marriott International has announced the signing of W Osaka set to open in 2021. This will be the first-ever W in #Japan. The 27-floor, new-build hotel will boast provocative and bold W design, with a stunning building façade designed by Osaka-based Tadao Ando. W Osaka sits amidst the indie boutiques and restaurants of the city’s main thoroughfare on Mido-Suji Boulevard, allowing guests immediate access to luxury shopping and insider experiences along the Gingko tree-lined street.

Marriott expands in Asia Pacific

MARRIOTT International is on track to open 16 new resorts in Asia Pacific across seven brands in 10 countries and territories this year, giving travellers more choices when booking holidays, business events or special occasions. Marriott currently has 130 upper-upscale and luxury resorts in the Asia Pacific region in countries including China, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand. The new hotels range from tranquil resorts such as the beachfront Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa, which is the company’s first hotel in Sri Lanka, to The Ritz-Carlton Haikou, which presents travellers with a new experience as Ritz-Carlton’s first golf resort in China.

Marriott International increases its footprint in Japan

MARRIOTT International has increased its footprint in Japan with the recent opening of five new hotels across #Japan, from lakes near Mt Fuji to golden beaches just south of Osaka.

Each of the five new deluxe hotels is intended as a gateway to explore a lesser-known scenic destination in Japan, from the lake area surrounding Mt Fuji to temples, bamboo groves, hot springs, modern art and even white-sand beaches further afield from Tokyo. These include a secluded mountain resort just over an hour by bullet train from Tokyo, scenic lakes nestled in the foothills of Mt Fuji and on the outskirts of Kyoto, and inviting golden sandy beaches on the southern coast of central Japan just south of Osaka.

The deliberate situating of the hotels in as yet relatively unknown areas of Japan is part of a growing trend to entice international travellers to explore further afield and visit some of Japan’s less familiar destinations, thereby opening a window onto sometimes hidden aspects of its natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Marriott Resort to open in Antigua and Barbuda.

MARRIOTT International will expand its portfolio in the #Caribbean with the latest addition from the brand’s Autograph Collection coming to the shores of the island of #Antigua. 

The estimated $40 million project, which broke ground on November 29, 2016 will be situated just two miles west of the island’s capital, St. John’s, and a convenient six miles west of the airport.

Coconut Beach Resort by Marriott will comprise of 40 high-end condominiums and a 70 room five star hotel with modern water features, eco-friendly amenities and a sustainable facility design throughout the property.
