Barry Manilow returns to Las Vegas

BARRY Manilow has announced that he will be returning to Las Vegas with a brand new stage production to perform his extensive catalog of hits as the exclusive headliner at the Westgate International Theater at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.

The legendary entertainer will return to where he previously made his spectacular residency debut on February 24, 2005. The 85-minute show will celebrate his well-loved greatest hits.

Show dates going on sale will be May 24-26, June 14-16, June 21-23, July 19-21, July 26-28, Oct. 4-6 and Oct. 11-13.

First zipline for Las Vegas Strip announced

THE first zipline on the Las Vegas Strip has been announced by Caesars Entertainments. Named Fly LINQ, the $20-million project will feature 10 side-by-side ziplines capable of simultaneously launching all riders.

The experience will be constructed on The LINQ Promenade, the open-air shopping, dining and entertainment district.

Guests on the ride will take an escalator, with open Strip views to the top of the 122-foot-tall launch tower.  At the top they can choose to ride in a seated or 'Superman' position. The ride will travel 1,080 feet above The LINQ Promenade.

Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2018.

The four brand-new tours, including a three-minute taster flight, make it easier than ever for guests to enjoy a flightseeing experience of the world-famous Hoover Dam.

From the heliport, located next to the Hoover Dam Lodge Hotel & Casino on U.S. 93, GCH flies guests closer to the dam than previously and also offers views of Lake Mead and the volcanic terrain of Black Canyon.

The new tours range from just the blink-and-it-will-be-over three-minute flight to a two-hour adventure.

Burning Man Festival ends

THE #BurningMan Festival was first held on a beach in San Francisco in 1986 and now takes place at Black Rock City in Nevada, where a city is built in a week and then the area is restored to its natural state.

A celebration of all things selfless and for the enjoyment of all the festival is held annually from the last Sunday in August to the first Monday in September and the event takes its name from the burning of a large wooden effigy (the man). 

In 2015 the event attracted 70,000 people.

London to Las Vegas – direct

NORWEGIAN is continuing the expansion of its low-cost long-haul network by launching a direct service to #LasVegas from London Gatwick from £179 one-way.

The twice-weekly flights – on Mondays and Thursdays – will start on October 31.

‘We are thrilled to see our partnership with Norwegian continue to expand, providing another non-stop option for European visitors to visit Las Vegas,’ said Cathy Tull, senior vice president of marketing for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

Says Norwegian chief commercial officer Thomas Ramdahl: ‘Las Vegas is a fantastic addition to our growing transatlantic network from the UK. Viva low-cost, viva Las Vegas!’

#LAS VEGAS achieved a record visitor score in 2015: 42 million, which compares with 41.1 million in 2014.

The tourist industry in Southern Nevada and the Las Vegas Valley generates more than $50 billion annually and employs 366,000 people.

Las Vegas checks-in 40 million

LAS VEGAS reached a milestone in annual visitor numbers, exceeding 40 million for the first time. 

The tourism industry in Southern Nevada continues to expand, achieving ten consecutive months of visitor volume increases.

‘Las Vegas couldn't have reached this milestone without the continued investments of our resort partners,’ said Rossi Ralenkotter, CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. ‘Ongoing developments in the destination, including new, renovated, and rebranded resort properties, exciting new attractions, world-class entertainment, and incredible culinary offerings are what keep first-time visitors and loyalists returning to Las Vegas.’

Tourism in Southern Nevada and the Las Vegas Valley generates more than $45 billion (£29 billion) annually and supports 376,000 jobs.
