147th Open at Carnoustie

AS anticipation grows for The 147th Open at #Carnoustie, a new website has been unveiled by Carnoustie Country as an online hub for the region’s 34 outstanding golf courses and accommodation providers. With preparations underway for the world’s oldest Major, Carnoustie Country has also unveiled a new legendary marketing campaign intended to underpin its reputation as a world-class #golfing destination boasting a golfing legacy stretching back over 450 years.

Providing insider knowledge about playing golf and staying in the east of #Scotland as well as detailing the very latest offers, the new Carnoustie Country website has been written and designed with the visiting golfer in mind. Featuring a chronological history of The Open at Carnoustie along with dedicated sections on links and inland courses – many of which were designed by legendary architects such as Old Tom Morris, Willie Park Jr and James Braid – the new website is brimming with information about golf in Angus, Perthshire and Fife.

Award for The Enchanted Forest

THE ENCHANTED FOREST, Perthshire’s sound and light show, has staved off competition from 38 Scottish tourism providers to take home the Tourism & Hospitality Award in the Scottish Rural Awards. 

The show, which will celebrate its 15th anniversary this year, drew more than 62,000 visitors to the Highland Perthshire area in 2015 over a 32-night run, a 33% increase on the previous year.

The event’s impact on the local tourism economy is now expected to be in the region of £2.75 million a year, with more than 50% of all visitors to the event choosing to stay overnight in the area after their visit, and 90% citing the event as their main reason for visiting the area in the autumn.

Enchanted Forest nominated for UK awards

PERTHSHIRE’S Enchanted Forest sound and light show has been shortlisted for two titles in this year’s prestigious UK Event Awards.  

The shortlisting will see it battling out in December for its place at the top against some of Britain’s biggest events. It will compete for the title of the UK’s Cultural Event of the Year, while its agency, Volpa, has been shortlisted for Event Marketing & PR Strategy of the Year.

The Enchanted Forest has become a mainstay of #Scotland’s tourism calendar and is organized by The Enchanted Forest Community Trust under the Perthshire Big Tree Country brand.

Founded in 2002 with just 3,000 visitors, this year’s event smashed all box office records with more than 50,000 attending.
