Simpson Travel expands its Secrets portfolio

SPECIALIST villa and boutique hotel operator Simpson Travel has expanded its Simpson Secrets portfolio, offering a range of hidden gems across the Mediterranean.

Company chairman Graham Simpson says: 'Over the last two years, we have seen a definite increase in demand for off-the-beaten-track properties, or as we like to say, those on 'the road less travelled'.  All our Simpson Secrets properties are somewhere you can really escape to, get away from daily routine, switch off and unwind.  We call it the Simpson Secrets state of mind.

‘Traditionally, our Simpson Secrets properties were smaller and more suitable for couples, so we're delighted to now be able to offer the same type of properties to larger groups – be these families or friends travelling together.'

New destinations with Simpson Secrets include Andalucia, France, Italy, and Ibiza, with additional larger properties also being added across the portfolio in Greece, Turkey, and Corsica.  The collection, which was initially launched in 2011, now comprises a range of properties, from one-bedroom hide-aways to grander houses and even a French chateau.

Highlights include:

El Castillo (Andalucia): Set in tranquil countryside close to the village of Gaucín, this house blends traditional Moorish styling with modern-day comfort, plus added extras from cooks and childcare to yoga, guided walks and massage. Sleeping up to 14 people, the house has a private pool and a grand piano.

Villa delle Favole (Tuscany): This former monastery – first inhabited over 1,000 years ago by Camaldolesi Monks – is in a private forest of olive, oak, and beach trees.  Translating as 'Villa of Fairytales', it's a base from which to discover the natural and cultural treasures of both Tuscany and Umbria.

Montpalach (France): This manor house, dating from 1750, is in the peaceful hamlet of the same name. The villa's pool is a gem and the entire garden is enclosed, creating a wonderful retreat.

Villa Lygia (Epirus, Greece): The Epirus coast has been described as one of Greece's hidden secrets, and this house makes the most of it, having been designed to maximize views, light, and the sound of the sea. One of its joys is a path that descends to a sand and pebble beach 98ft below the terrace. It’s possible to hire a boat and moor it here.

Simpson Travel launches first French collection

SIMPSON TRAVEL, an independent, luxury specialist villa and boutique hotel operator, has launched its first French programme, featuring a handpicked collection of #villas.

Regions featured include the Loire, Dordogne, Vendee, Provence, and Cote D'Azur, and the properties range from a three-bedroom house in Mediterranean style gardens in the Var to traditional farmhouses, country retreats, and chateaux sleeping up to 20 guests.

The programme will operate slightly differently to other destinations within the Simpson Travel portfolio.  Firstly, properties will be offered on an accommodation- only basis, in recognition of the fact that many clients will be choosing to take ferries, or make independent arrangements either side of their villa holiday.  Secondly, rather than a Simpson Travel representative, Simpson clients in #France will be welcomed in by the owners, housekeepers, or concierges of the property, who will also be their point of contact should they need any help or advice during their holiday.

In the Cote d'Azur, highlights include Villa d'Agay, a seven-bedroom hilltop villa in the seaside village of Agay, an hour or so west of Cannes.

There are several chateaux featured across the South-West and Dordogne regions, including the 13th century Chateau de la Garinie on the borders of Aveyron and the Lot; the 18th century Le Petit Chateau in Aquitaine; and the Renaissance-style Chateau de la Malartrie.

Villa choices, from France to Turkey

LUXURY VILLA and boutique hotel operator Simpson Travel has launched its programme for 2016 with the addition of properties in mainland France, a new destination for the company. The properties are in the Côte d'Azur, the Loire, the Vendee, and the Dordogne. A France brochure will be available in January to showcase the new product.

The company also has new villas and boutique hotels in Turkey and mainland Greece, and on Majorca, Corsica, and the Greek islands of Kefalonia, Paxos, and Meganissi.

Says company chairman Graham Simpson: 'The 2016 programme is our biggest one to date, and we are delighted to be featuring France for the first time.’

Simpson Travel acquires two villa specialists

LUXURY operator Simpson Travel has bought two villa companies, French experts Dominique’s Villas and Italian operator Cottages to Castles. The move follows the acquisition of Exclusive Escapes earlier this year, which included a number of properties in Turkey.

The Cottages to Castles programme will continue to operate as a stand-alone brand with its own website for 2016.

Simpson Travel managing director, Graham Simpson, said: ‘We are delighted to announce these two new acquisitions. Since our launch in 2003, Simpson Travel has continued to grow and we have a high volume of repeat clients who we know will welcome these new destinations.

As a company, our ethos is firmly grounded in offering quality service and a diverse choice of properties to our clients. Dominique’s Villas and Cottages to Castles have similarly high levels of product and core brand values of excellent customer service, as well as a strong sense of heritage, and as such are an ideal match.

The former Exclusive Escapes properties are featured in Simpson’s Turkey 2016 portfolio, while a new France programme will be introduced this month.
