Mobile ticketing with Google Pay

THE Las Vegas Monorail Company announced the launch of virtual transit ticketing with the new Google Pay app for Android phones. The #Monorail now offers riders the ability to quickly and easily purchase fares online and use their phone at the fare gates for immediate transit access to everything along the #LasVegas Strip. 

It is the first transit system in the world to fully integrate their ticketing system with Google Pay using MIFARE contactless technology. With just a few clicks, Monorail customers can now purchase and save tickets using their credit and debit cards or PayPal account linked to Google Pay with the security of Google encryption. Once customers arrive at the Monorail station, they simply tap their phone on the fare gate and ride.

The world's shortest railway reopens in Downtown L.A.

ANGELS Flight, the iconic Downtown L.A. railway has reopened to the public. The world-renowned, 116-year-old funicular takes passengers on a scenic ride between Hill and Olive Streets on Bunker Hill. It has undergone a full refurbishment following closure in 2013.  Originally opened in 1901, Angels Flight — the world’s shortest railway — has given more than 100 million rides along its hillside track. 

In addition to being an iconic tourist attraction, the funicular will serve as an important transit connection between the Pershing Square Metro station and the top of Bunker Hill — an area that includes Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Broad Contemporary Art Museum, MOCA, the Los Angeles Music Center, among other cultural institutions. As part of the agreement, Metro Tap Card holders will receive a 50% fare discount for the next three years.

My Cloud Hotel opens at Frankfurt Airport

GERMANY'S first transit hotel, located at Gate Z 25 in Terminal 1 at Frankfurt Airport, opened for business on March 6, 2017. Its proximity to the departure gates lets transit passengers stay at the hotel without having to leave the security zone and then quickly and conveniently board their onward flights. And in contrast to conventional hotels, they can book rooms for only a few hours if they like.
