Paddletopia

THE Town of Surfside is a beautiful walkable beachfront community located in South Florida, between Miami Beach and Bal Harbour. Incorporated in 1935, the Town is home to nearly 6,000 residents and includes exceptional hotels, a unique downtown shopping district, pristine beaches, and year-round activities. Surfside captures the range of experiences offered within its limits through a marketing campaign that positions it as “Miami’s Uptown Beachtown,” where the duality of luxury and laid-back lives collide.

Head to Surfside, #Florida for the town’s first-ever Paddletopia. Presented by Surfside’s tourism bureau, this groovy two-day affair will transform the 96th Street waterfront park in Miami’s Uptown Beachtown into a FREE weekend-long festival with paddle boarding, wellness brands, fitness demos, healthy snacks and family activities on May 19 & 20.

Paddletopia will feature stand-up paddle boarding along the Intracoastal; wellness expo with fitness classes and family boot camp by Sweat Studio Miami; an eco-fashion showcase courtesy of tropical knitwear label KRELwear and Pink Coral Miami; live DJ, “chill out” lounges under colorful pergola tents and much more.

New waterfront venue in Darling Harbour

A fabulous new waterfront pavilion will be available for venue hire in Sydney’s Darling Harbour, just in time for the festive season. Named after Captain Cook’s majestic vessel and its on-site replica, the HMB Endeavour, the Endeavour Pavilion which opens on November 10 is an exciting new addition to the wharves of the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM).

In addition to its prime waterfront location overlooking the stunning harbour, the Endeavour Pavilion also offers all-inclusive event packages, with everything from venue hire to catering and furniture looked after on site. The venue offers guests a unique setting for a function with a wow factor, with the Pavilion nestled elegantly amongst historic vessels, set against the spectacular backdrop of the Sydney skyline.

Upgrade for Darwin’s Frances Bay waterfront

DARWIN’S Frances Bay basin – also known as the Duckpond – is to be turned into a waterfront precinct for tourists, locals, and boaties.

Northern Government chief minister Adam Giles said the area presented a golden opportunity for an imaginative, mixed-use re-development which would draw in visitors to the overlooked waterfront location.

‘We’ve seen fabulous waterfront developments occur around #Darwin and I believe there’s a great opportunity to rejuvenate #Frances Bay,’ Mr Giles said. ‘The Duckpond is the heart of our commercial fishing industry and we want to keep it that way.

Auckland and Hobart have turned their fishing ports into attractive harbourside destinations, where visitors can enjoy a drink, meal, or catch a cruise. Darwin can do the same.’

The city council’s city centre master plan envisages an improved marina in the area.
