Award for Channel Islands Harbour

CHANNEL Islands Harbor has been awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, the Ventura County Harbor Department announced.

As the first recreational harbor in Ventura County, Channel Islands Harbor has become one of the largest in #California. It now includes over 300 acres of land and water, but the initial development included only a small portion of the current harbor area. 

Additional construction took place over the years, with eight marinas comprising over 2200 boat slips, two hotels, two yacht club buildings, two boat yards, three shopping areas, restaurants, a Maritime Museum, over 100 condominiums and 485 apartments.

Upgrade for Darwin’s Frances Bay waterfront

DARWIN’S Frances Bay basin – also known as the Duckpond – is to be turned into a waterfront precinct for tourists, locals, and boaties.

Northern Government chief minister Adam Giles said the area presented a golden opportunity for an imaginative, mixed-use re-development which would draw in visitors to the overlooked waterfront location.

‘We’ve seen fabulous waterfront developments occur around #Darwin and I believe there’s a great opportunity to rejuvenate #Frances Bay,’ Mr Giles said. ‘The Duckpond is the heart of our commercial fishing industry and we want to keep it that way.

Auckland and Hobart have turned their fishing ports into attractive harbourside destinations, where visitors can enjoy a drink, meal, or catch a cruise. Darwin can do the same.’

The city council’s city centre master plan envisages an improved marina in the area.

Cruise terminal & resort plan for Gozo

MALTA’S government is looking at designs for a €300 million (£215.5 million) #cruise terminal and leisure resort to be built on the site of a former limestone quarry on Gozo’s east coast.

The scheme features a cruise terminal building, yacht marina, residential apartments and #villas, and a luxury hotel.

Work is expected to start in 2016 and be completed in 2022.
