Improved roadside help in Ulster

EUROPCAR is improving its hiring and driving service for customers in Northern Ireland with the launch of its Roadside Assistance Express (RAS). The service aims to get customers back on the road as quickly as possible in the event of a breakdown.

Drivers hiring a Europcar vehicle in Northern Ireland now have the option to purchase RAS. In the event of a breakdown, a dedicated phone number initiates the express assistance process. With standard roadside assistance, the customer and vehicle are taken to the nearest Europcar branch, where the customer is given a replacement vehicle.

With the new service, a replacement vehicle is brought to the customer, whether they’re in Northern Ireland or in the Irish Republic.

Big boost for Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way

THE Irish government is  to pump a further €1.4 million (£1.53 million) into the recently- developed Wild Atlantic Way which, when completed, will be the planet’s longest defined coastal drive, stretching 1,500 miles from the Inishowen  Peninsula in Donegal in the north down to Kinsale in West Cork, and taking tourists to more than 150 ocean-side attractions.

The new funding, says the Republic’s tourism minister, ‘will make the route even more tempting and ensure that we develop its full potential to deliver and hold onto the greatest number of tourists’.

The latest investment will be focused on three projects in Mayo, Galway, and Cork, and will include a walking and cycling trail known as the Galway Greenway. When finished, the trail will contribute more than 48 miles to the country’s  national cycle network.
