WHILE the Big Five game drives and encounters with wildlife are always a huge drawcard, it’s only half the safari experience at Garonga Safari Camp, #SouthAfrica. Those already familiar with the practice of mindfulness and meditation, or those that just love a good stretch or daytime nap, will be excited to see Garonga’s new Yoga Deck. An enclosed tented structure designed to allow air to flow freely, perfectly frames an exquisite view of the valley. You can step onto the mat and practice in privacy surrounded by only the peaceful sounds of the surrounding bush. If you’re lucky you might even get some of the local wildlife passing by!

Kruger National Park all day visits need to be pre-booked

DURING the school holidays, from July 1-23, access for visitors to the Kruger National Park will adhere to daily quotas, to manage the park’s carrying capacity.

SANParks reminds day visitors to the park that daily quotas will once again apply at all entrance gates. Visitors are urged to book for their visit prior to their arrival.

Pre-booking for day visits applies to the general public and tour operators, with tariffs charged per person, however when using an open vehicle, one must apply for permit direct from KNP.

The day visitor quota is a management tool to maintain the carrying capacity of the park, and is permanently in place throughout the year, although emphasised during long weekends and holidays due to the volume of visitors during these times.

Celebrate SA National Parks

THE annual South African National Parks (SA National Parks) Week will take place on 12 – 16 September 2016 giving South African day visitors free access into the #Kruger National Park (KNP) and all other National Parks in the country.

The purpose of this initiative is to continue to familiarise and create awareness of the National Parks and an understanding of environmental conservation amongst South African citizens.

"September is both Tourism and National Heritage month. We would like to encourage South Africans; in particular those coming from the local communities that are bordering the Parks and have never had an opportunity to visit the Park to come in their numbers. It is against this background that the SA National Parks Week offers free access to its National Parks to all the citizens of South Africa."
