THE Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has announced the comeback of the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show running from November 23 to 2 December 2 at the #Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysia’s most established and significant automotive event, the #motorshow is trailblazing towards its 9th presentation after a five-year hiatus, on the theme of “Beyond Mobility”.

Poised to rev up Malaysia’s automotive industry and capture the public’s attention with many new model launches and exciting automobile concepts. With a track record of attracting the largest number of visitors in Malaysia’s automotive events it is anticipating more than 350,000 visitors to the 10-day extravaganza in 2018.

Japfest returns to Silverstone

ONE of Europe’s biggest Japanese car shows returns to the home of British Motor Racing at Silverstone for the second year on April 30 from 10am to 5.30pm. Thousands of Japanese cars from the UK’s major Japanese car clubs will be on display, filling the vast Silverstone site with over 3,500 cars.

The largest trade and exhibition area of its kind will occupy the paddock area alongside a series of all-day track action, including the much anticipated return of the Drift Kings’ epic winner-takes-all showdown. There will also be live entertainment, a show & shine competition, opportunities for drivers of Japanese cars of all abilities to get on the track, and a shopping village, where you can track down all your sought-after Japanese car parts.

Transports of delight at Blenheim Palace

THE BLENHEIM PALACE FESTIVAL OF TRANSPORT is gearing up for the 11th annual weekend celebration on August 28-29. 

Sunday August 28 will feature a Classic Car Show, followed the next day by not only more classic cars but also motorcycles, Minis and VW's, Customs, Hot Rods and Americans, Kit, and Sports Cars.

The show will have exhibitors, trade stalls, and plenty of knowledgeable amateurs and motoring professionals offering information and history about specialist vehicles.

ADMISSION: Park & Gardens ticket required: Adult £14.90, child £6.90 (Age 5-16).

Don’t let breakdowns break the bank

AIRPORT PARKING AND HOTELS (APH) has created a guide comparing car breakdown cover and assistance policies. 

It looks at 61 breakdown cover and assistance policies offered by 20 vehicle insurance providers including the AA, Direct Line, and RAC and compares the annual breakdown cover cost for one named-driver vehicle, the level of assistance provided, the radius of recovery location, call-out charges and any additional add-ons available. The cost varies from £16.45 a year for One Star Cover from Startrescue.co.uk, which includes standard UK roadside assistance, to £134 a year for European breakdown cover from ASDA Money, which covers roadside assistance and recovery at any location in the UK and mainland Europe.

If a vehicle cannot be fixed at the roadside, all 61 of the insurance policies researched will tow a vehicle to a nearby garage. Thirteen policies extend this to any location within a 10-25 mile radius of the breakdown location, and 30, including Finest cover with Tesco Bank and UK Recovery with LV, will tow the vehicle to any UK location of the driver's choice. Drivers with Green Flag should note that the towing distance is limited to 10 miles for vehicles with a flat tyre. 

For those looking for extra security in breakdown situations, 29 policies, including all policies from The Co-operative Travel and UK Cover from Drive 24-7, offer onward travel as standard to policyholders in the form of overnight accommodation or car rental.

Ten policies, including Recovery EXTRA from GEM Motoring and Rescue & Recovery from Aviva, will provide an alternative driver should the main driver become unfit to drive.

Vintage Eastbourne

#EASTBOURNE’S vintage motoring festival, #MagnificentMotors, returns to the coastal town’s Victorian seafront from April 30 to May 1.

Exhibits will include a 1968 Ford Mustang, a 1928 Rover Open Tourer, and a 1902 Manley steam carriage, the oldest exhibit confirmed at the festival so far. The well-established festival on Eastbourne’s coast at the Western Lawns, typically draws in more than over 500 motors.

There will be vintage chauffeur-driven tours of the South Downs, and a four-day vintage market (April 29-May 2).

Later in the year, from July 23 to September 5, the Redoubt’s free Eastbourne Seaside Holiday exhibition takes visitors on a nostalgic journey exploring Eastbourne’s transition from Victorian seaside ‘tennis town’ to a thriving 1970’s seaside resort.
