ADDITIONAL flights between Edinburgh and Doha will see double daily flights introduced at Scotland’s busiest airport by Qatar Airways.
The airline will introduce an additional afternoon flight in April to cater for high Easter demand, meaning a double daily service on Mondays throughout the month.

On the runway
LAST month saw London Gatwick experience the busiest May in its history, as 4.1 million passengers travelled through the airport.
In the same month that Qatar Airways launched a new service from Gatwick to Doha, the airport’s 65 other long-haul routes continued to soar, services to Asia performed strongly, with Hong Kong particularly popular, +39% on last year.
Gatwick’s connections to the United States, +42.8% for the month, drove the airport’s busiest-ever May. The USA’s most iconic cities were among the most popular long-haul destinations during the month, East Coast favourites Boston and New York and Los Angeles.
Bucharest, Pula and Vienna, respectively, were among the most popular European destinations. Elsewhere, domestic routes to Newquay and the Isle of Man were up 18.6% and 8.7% respectively, while Guernsey saw a 5.8% rise on May last year.

QTA and Qatar Airways extend ‘free’ Stopover in Qatar offer
QATAR Tourism Authority (QTA) and Qatar Airways have announced that they will continue offering their attractive stopover package until the end of the year, following the excellent results from phase one.
The enticing offer - part of a broader +Qatar campaign - encourages all transit passengers to add #Qatar to their travel plans and provides transit passengers with an opportunity to discover the country. The offer includes free luxury hotel stays and complimentary transit visas. Initially planned to run from May until the end of the summer, the offer will now continue until 31 December. During the initial period, the country welcomed 34% more transit passengers compared to the same period in 2016.
QTA and Qatar Airways further announced that the offer will now be extended to passengers booking their travel through tour operators, allowing more people to benefit from the offer of a free overnight stay in a luxury hotel or a two-night stay for the discounted price of USD 100. In addition to the hotel accommodation, QTA and Qatar Airways are offering a free stopover city tour, which can be booked on arrival at Hamad International Airport.
Passengers can select from hotels including The Four Seasons, Marriott Marquis, Radisson Blu and Oryx Rotana. The city tours, organised by Discover Qatar, will offer passengers the opportunity to explore Doha and experience desert safari adventures or a dinner cruise aboard a traditional dhow, giving visitors a taste of Qatar’s authentic hospitality.
To be eligible for this offer, passengers simply need to book their flight on www.qatarairways.com, select ‘multi-city’ and choose their hotel once they receive their flight confirmation. This ground-breaking offer is available for all Qatar Airways passengers, both Premium and Economy, demonstrating the airline’s commitment to its brand ethos of ‘Going Places Together’. To maximise their time in Qatar, visitors can explore additional stopover packages offered by Discover Qatar.

QATAR Airways has announced that commencing 7 May 2017, the airline will operate a third daily non-stop route from Doha’s Hamad International Airport to Bali Denpasar.

Prior to this Qatar Airways served the destination via a touchdown in Singapore, but the expanding global reach of the airline and significant growth in size of its fleet has enabled the airline increasing popularity to now offer three daily direct non-stop flights.
