BMI REGIONAL expands UK network with double daily flights from Southampton to Munich – From April 15, the capital of Bavaria will be served 12 times weekly by bmi regional from Southampton Airport. The airline expects this new route to appeal to both leisure and business travellers.

EUROWINGS continues to expand its services from its largest location in Düsseldorf, launching a service to East Midlands Airport in the UK in March. The regional airport offers fast access to the areas around Derby, Nottingham and Leicester. The German airline will operate the route every day except Saturdays. Tickets for the Düsseldorf-East Midlands route can be booked via the internet at www.eurowings.com, with prices starting from €29.99 (£23.22) including all taxes, fees and charges.

INDEPENDENT tour operator Sardatur Holidays will launch weekly flights from Manchester to Sardinia in July. The flights to Cagliari and Olbia will operate during the summer from July 9 to September 17.

Flybe launches French flights

FLYBE is launching two new French routes from Southampton this summer. 

From July 3 to September 25, it will fly three times a week to Biarritz, and there will be three weekly flights to Toulon Hyeres in southern France from July 2 to September 12. 

In addition, flights to Bastia on Corsica will return for the peak summer travel on Sundays from May 22 to September 18.

Flybe announced recently the return of its routes from Southampton to Alicante, Malaga, Majorca, and Faro.

Up in the air . . .

YOU might curse Southampton Airport for using the ‘C’ word in July, but it suggests there is no better time to be thinking about next Christmas. The airport has planned flights to Finnish Lapland for Xmas 2015, increasing capacity by 300 percent. 

Jan Halliday, director of Marketing & Communications, said: ‘It must be every child’s dream to see Santa in Lapland, so this year we’re making it possible for even more families. We’re delighted to be able to offer additional flights from Southampton Airport which, particularly for the day trippers, will be a much more convenient alternative to the larger London airports.’
