Tourism boom form St.Lucia

SAINT LUCIA tourism has seen a strong start to 2015, with UK travel companies and agents reporting good bookings to the end of February. 

This comes against a backdrop of the highest total number of arrivals in the island’s history recorded for the month of January at 31,541, up 14 percent on the same month in 2014.

Aiming to help drive sales, an integrated campaign ran during January and February, raising awareness on five themes including Beach Lover, Nature Explorer, Active Families, Luxury Traveller and Weddings and Honeymoons.




Atlyn Forde, Director of Marketing at the island’s tourist board, said: ‘We’re looking forward to a great year ahead, with big names confirmed for the 2015 Jazz and Arts Festival, and good airlift continuing.’

5th boom year for Caribbean tourists ..

.. record numbers for the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica, and Aruba.

TOURISM to the Caribbean saw its fifth year of growth in 2014, with a record number of visitors and spend. The Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) says a record 26.3 million holidaymakers visited the islands in 2014, up 1.3 million on 2013. 

The growth was faster than the region had anticipated, and it came with a record spend of US$29.2 billion (£19.1 billion).

UK numbers were up by 12%, helped by increased flights to the region and more confidence in the economy. 

The Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica, and Aruba set their own tourism records in the year (making up 45% of arrivals), while St. Lucia, Belize - from the mouth of St, Herman's cave pictured, and Haiti also posted record overnight levels.

St Lucia responds to crime fears

ST LUCIA’S prime minister Dr Kenny Anthony has promised the island’s tourist businesses that the government will improve security and airport facilities. 

Responding to concerns from the UK about crime and safety on the Caribbean island, he said plans are under way for security officers who would exclusively look after the tourism sector.
