48 hours in Edinburgh . . . Day Two

DAY TWO:

10.30am Start the day with a bowl of porridge or locally-roasted coffee
A popular brunch spot, the menu at Urban Angel includes wholesome oat porridge with goji berries and raw cacao nibs, rainbow trout with curly kale, eggs benedict and French toast. 12 Go on board the yacht used by The Queen for her holidays Take a bus to the waterfront district of Leith. Having served as the port of Edinburgh for hundreds of years, this once working class neighbourhood is now trendy, its streets filled with traditional pubs, restaurants, and art galleries. Leith is also home to the Royal Yacht Britannia. Once The Queen's vessel of choice for her holidays, this palatial yacht is now permanently berthed alongside Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre and is a major visitor attraction.www.royalyachtbritannia.co.uk 

1.30pm Enjoy freshly caught fish at a fine waterfront restaurant

3pm Have a cultural... or political... afternoon
The 150th anniversary of the National Museum of Scotland sees the opening of ten new galleries in July 2016, showcasing more than 3,500 objects from its collections of science, technology, decorative art, design, and fashion. Many of these items haven't been on display for a generation, and include a rare glass sculpture by Picasso, a Harris Tweed suit by iconic fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, and a special exhibit focusing on Dolly the Sheep, the first cloned mammal in history.
