Hop on over . . .

AUSTRALIANS can now book non-stop flights from Australia to Europe for the first time, with tickets for Qantas’ Perth-London (Heathrow) route. Daily flights on the history-making route begin on 24 March 2018 and form part of a new Melbourne-Perth-London return service. 

The services will be operated by Qantas’ new Boeing 787-Dreamliner – an aircraft designed specifically for comfort on long-haul sectors. Customers from other Australian cities will be able to connect to London via Perth, while inbound passengers will be able to transfer from the West Australian capital to onward destinations across the country.

Naples to Northern Ireland

TOURISM Ireland warmly welcomes the announcement by Jet2 of its new flight from Naples to Belfast International Airport. The new weekly service will commence in May 2018 and will provide a welcome boost for tourism from Italy to Northern Ireland.

Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “The announcement of the new Jet2 flight from Naples to Belfast is excellent news for #tourism to Northern Ireland in 2018 and will certainly expand travel options for holidaymakers from Italy wishing to visit #Belfast and Northern Ireland. "

From Brazil to New Zealand

CULT Brazilian travel show Lugar Incomum has dedicated eight episodes entirely to #NewZealand. In total, a whopping 12 hours of New Zealand footage will be screened to over 7.2 million people in #Brazil over eight weeks.

The crew, including the host, Brazilian superstar Didi Wagner visited New Zealand late last year and spent 20 days experiencing Christchurch, Queenstown, Wellington, Rotorua, Waikato and Auckland.

Tourism New Zealand took full advantage of the show’s airtime and built a significant marketing campaign around it including amplified advertising in Brazil featuring the show’s host Didi Wagner.

“Brazil is a market showing steady growth and with direct flights to New Zealand now arriving three times a week from nearby Buenos Aires with plans to extend, the region has really opened up.”

Research shows us that the Brazilian market are keen to travel to countries where they can visit beaches and urban areas and experience arts, culture, adventure activities and good wine and food.

“New Zealand offers all these things in abundance so it was good to be able to show off a range of regions across the country through the episodes. This supports our work to spread visitation across the country.”

Behind the lens in St Lucia

ONE of the world's most accomplished photographers is hosting a master class at Anse Chastanet Resort in St. Lucia for National Geographic Expeditions this year.  Joe McNally, whose acclaimed career includes assignments in more than 50 countries, will lead the classes at the eco-friendly resort.

"Advanced Photography and Lighting Workshop," the session, to be held October 10-15, 2017, is designed for 16 advanced photographers and National Geographic Photography Workshop alumni.

Named a Nikon Legend Behind the Lens and voted one of the 30 most influential photographers of the decade by Photo District News, McNally will deliver lectures and guide participants through the complexities of advanced photography while taking them through the sprawling Anse Chastanet property, which features a tropical rainforest, an organic farm and jungle bike trails.

We are sailing . . .

GLENRIDDING Sailing Centre located on the shores of Ullswater is participating in the RYA Push The Boat Out event, which will see hundreds of sailing clubs and training centres up and down the country offering free or low cost ‘have a go’ sailing taster sessions and open days during May. 

They will be running two sessions on Sunday 14th and 21st May.

Sessions last one hour and cost only £5 per person. They will also be offering Discount Vouchers towards their RYA sailing courses to those that enjoyed their experience and wish to take sailing further.

Celebrate Caribbean Cuisine



FLAVOURS from more than a dozen Caribbean nations will be simmering together at #Caribbean305, the region's newest culinary and cultural celebration taking place on Miami's Jungle Island on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 8 p.m.

To be presented annually by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), Caribbean305 will launch South Florida's celebrations of Caribbean-American Heritage Month by providing foodies, Caribbean nationals and residents of the area with the chance to savor the diverse gastronomic delights the region has to offer.

Caribbean305 will feature culinary professionals from 16 Caribbean nations and territories, including Anguilla, the Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, CuraƧao, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Martin, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Eat, drink and dance to Caribbean rhythms on Jungle Island, while interacting with representatives from a number of Caribbean tourism boards, Miami-based Caribbean restaurants and celebrity chefs.
