The Tower is tops

THE Tower of London tops the list of the most popular tourist attractions in England’s capital in 2014, thanks to the Poppy Installation.

The Tower beat Madame Tussaud's, Buckingham Palace, and the London Eye, to be crowned the top attraction, according to online ticket supplier, 365Tickets.

It's estimated that more than five million visitors from around the world saw the WW1 commemorative poppy installation at the Tower.

From 365Tickets data, the top 10 London attractions in 2014 were:

1. Tower of London

2. London Eye

3. Windsor Castle

4. SEA LIFE London Aquarium

5. Tower Bridge Exhibition

6. Madame Tussauds

7. HMS Belfast

8. Hampton Court Palace

9. Kew Gardens

10. Buckingham Palace State Rooms

Go Holiday editor David Kernek comments: As a Londoner, albeit one who hasn’t lived there for many, many decades, I’m surprised to see Windsor Castle in a list of the capital’s major attractions. It’s a small Berkshire town to the west of London, isn’t it?
