OXFORD Bike Week encourages people from all walks of life to get on their bike and start cycling. A week of mainly free, bike related events from 10-18 June, events range from Thames Valley Police event on bike security and registering your bike to an overnight dash to Dorset. If all this cycling has been a bit of a shock to the system, how about a yoga for cyclists’ workshop? Or a workshop on cycle maintenance?
- Cyclists live on average at least two years longer than non-cyclists and their fitness levels are equivalent to being ten years younger – so forget nip and tuck, think pedal and push!
- Cycling is the ultimate family activity; it’s free, healthy, fun and encourages children to be independent
- Cycling gets you out and about and you’re more likely to find a new cafe or beautiful park you never knew existed than when you’re cooped up in a car
