"Safety Tips", alert app for foreign tourists to Japan

FOLLOWING the two earthquakes in Kumamoto, Japan in April of this year an app is available for foreign tourists in #Japan to download from Google Play or itunes.

The smartphone app gives alerts for Earthquake Early Warning, Tsunami Warning, and other Weather Warnings within Japan in English, Japanese, Hangul, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.

The app provides various functions useful for both foreign tourists and residents in Japan, such as Evacuation flowchart showing actions to be taken in the light of surrounding circumstances, Communication Card for obtaining information from people nearby, and Website Links that contain helpful information in the event of a disaster.

Italy’s Liguria region targets UK tourists

AN English-language website has been launched promoting the northern Italian region of Liguria. The Beyond the Riviera site showcases eight different perspectives on the destination, and follows a mobile app launched in May 2015. The aim of both platforms is to promote more of the region to UK visitors, attracting tourists to areas other than the beaches and Riviera towns that most people visit. 

The categories covered include agro food, arts and history, handicrafts, food and wine, hiking, and markets and festivals.

The website lists routes and destinations that can be researched through the app, allowing tourists to delve deeper into the region.
