Car rental: Fox expands in Italy, and a new player takes on the giants

FOX RENT A CAR continues the expansion of its global business with eight locations that are now open for reservations or opening soon in Italy.

The new FOX affiliate locations in Italy are now open in-terminal at Rome-Fiumicino, Milan-Malpensa, and Pisa airports. The locations opening soon in Italy will be at the Venice, Bari, and Brindisi Airports, plus two additional locations servicing Sicily at the Palermo and Catania airports.

CAR & FLY GMBH in Germany has announced the launch of GLOBAL Rent-a-Car, a new brand uniting locally-owned and operated car rental companies worldwide. Its goal is to establish a ‘healthy counterbalance’ to the giants currently dominating the car rental market.

GLOBAL Rent-a-Car says it offers a new franchise concept that provides customers with a ‘simple and fast way’ to book a reliable vehicle anywhere in the world.

‘Our goal is to detach from big corporate structures in favour of agile, self-determined car rental agencies who can play to their local strengths and provide their customers with tailor-made offers at attractive prices,’ says the company’s CEO, Hubert M. Terstappen, who unveiled the launch at the World Travel Market in London.

By partnering with GLOBAL Rent-a-Car, local car rental companies get worldwide availability while maintaining full independence and flexibility to the customer's advantage. By choosing GLOBAL Rent-a-Car, the company says, customers support independent car rental companies in their region without compromising on quality, service, or price.

‘Our philosophy is think local, rent GLOBAL.’ Mr Terstappen explains. ‘We are rolling out a real alternative for car rental in the franchise market."

GLOBAL Rent-a-Car is headquartered in Duisburg, Germany with offices in London and Dubai.
