THIS year 73 percent of managers will
check work e-mail while on holiday according to research by the employment law
resource Employersguide, which questioned more than 2,500 managers in a range
of industries.
More than 50 percent of managers says they
will make at least one telephone call into the office while away.
Alan Price, managing director of
Employersguide, said: ‘If you wish to take a proper holiday, leave the phone
and laptop at home - it's a no brainer. My advice is to put an out-of-office
response on your e-mail and this will let people know that you are not to be
contacted.
‘The whole point of getting away is that
you can re-charge your batteries, allowing you to return to work feeling
refreshed and energized.’
