Island in the sun …

WELCOMING its first guests this year, Kandolhu is a small, lush island ringed by an intricate coral garden, well-known amongst snorkelers and divers as one of the best in the Maldives. Intimate and bare, this tiny gem is encircled by wide beaches. In the heart of the Maldives, in North Ari Atoll, the island can be reached in 20 minutes by seaplane from the airport.

Following an investment of US$ 12 million, the resort has 30 villas on land and over water, each distinct in design and most of them with private pools. The villas are scattered around the island on the beach with sea views, or set over the water with direct access to the Indian Ocean. They have Maldivian architecture with modern interiors, including 21st century comforts such as i-Pads, Wi-Fi, Bose surround systems and espresso machines.

Though designed to five-star levels, the resort will put greater focus on giving its guests an 'island experience' instead of a typical hotel stay.
