New gateway to Llŷn

THE National Trust has opened Porth y Swnt, a Coastal Tourism Centre of Excellence on the Llŷn Peninsula. It is the first of its kind in Wales.

Located in Aberdaron, a traditional fishing village, visitors can visit Porth y Swnt as a starting point to equip them with the knowledge to explore the Llŷn Peninsula's traditional Welsh way of life that is inextricably shaped by the sea.

Porth y Swnt – or Gateway to the Sound – will encourage visitors to see Llŷn in a new light, with a passion for its preservation. A two-minute film made by the National Trust also showcases the coastal views, inspiring walks, fascinating nature and heritage of Llŷn to encourage visitors to discover and explore the area.

The centre has been part-funded via the Coastal Tourism Project led by Visit Wales, the tourism department within the Welsh Government.
