Emirates lands in Edinburgh

EMIRATES has celebrated the inaugural flight of its new service between Dubai and Edinburgh.

The Emirates Boeing 777-300ER touched down in the Scottish capital on October 2, making #Edinburgh the airline’s second destination in #Scotland and the eighth in the United Kingdom.

Uber and Emirates partner up

UBER, the world’s leading ride-sharing app and Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, have announced an exclusive partnership that will provide Emirates passengers visiting Dubai from select international countries with discounted airport rides. 

The collaborative offer will see visitors to Dubai from Australia, Egypt, France, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa avail special offers from Uber on bookings made between 26 September to 10 December 2018. 

To avail the special offers, travellers will need to book an Emirates Economy Flex or Economy Flex Plus fare on flights from Australia, Egypt, France, Saudi Arabia, South Africa to Dubai via the Emirates website,www.emirates.com.au during the promotional period.

Emirates lands in Chile

EMIRATES has today launched a new, five times-a-week service from Dubai (DXB) to Santiago International Airport (SCL), via the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo (GRU), marking the airline’s first arrival in Chile. On board the inaugural Boeing 777-200LR flight, which was welcomed at both Sao Paulo and Santiago airports with a water cannon salute, was a group of special guests and media.

#Chile is a popular destination for business and leisure travellers around the world, in particular from Asian destinations such as China, South Korea, Japan, Thailand and India. Chile is also home to large Chinese and Middle East communities that can now take advantage of the new service.

Emirates to operate extra flights for busy Hajj season

EMIRATES will be operating extra flights to Jeddah and Medina to help facilitate travel for pilgrims heading to and from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Hajj. Emirates will be operating 33 additional flights to Jeddah and Medina from 6 to 31 August to support the journey for pilgrims expected to travel to the Holy City of Mecca during Hajj this year. 

These services will run in parallel with Emirates’ regularly scheduled services to Jeddah and Medina. These additional flight services are available to travellers holding a valid Hajj visa. This year, top inbound destinations Emirates is expecting Hajj pilgrims to come from are Pakistan, Senegal, the United States, the UK, Australia, Indonesia, the Ivory Coast and Nigeria.

EMIRATES has launched a second daily flight between Dubai and #Prague, to meet the increasing demand for travel on the route.

Emirates has been serving the Czech market since 2010 and during this time has carried some 1.7 million passengers on the route. To meet the rising demand for both inbound and outbound travel, the airline has added this new daily flight operated by a Boeing 777-300ER with a capacity of 360 seats, boosting tourism into the Czech Republic by 262,800 seats a year.

The new flight will accommodate three classes on board, with eight private suites in First Class, 42 lie-flat seats in Business Class and 310 spacious seats in Economy.

EMIRATES has set a new record with over 1 million Wi-Fi connections made on board its flights in March alone. During the month, 1,037,016 Emirates customers connected to the internet during their flight. The connections were mainly made over mobile devices with over 94 percent of users connecting with a smartphone –twice as many connections were made on an iOS mobile phone as compared to an Android mobile, and about 2 percent with a tablet.

EMIRATES has debuted the new Real Madrid decal on its iconic A380. Making its first touchdown at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport, the Emirates A380 has been emblazoned with the image of Real Madrid footballing giants.

The plane’s eye-catching customized decal features some of the club's world-class players: Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema and Marcelo. Visible from both sides of the plane, the bespoke decal covers an area of ​​more than 500m2 and shows the five players of the first team in action.

Besides Madrid, the Real Madrid A380 is expected to fly to a majority of Emirates A380 destinations worldwide, giving Real Madrid fans around the world a chance to snap a picture of the aircraft as it makes its way around the globe. #Emirates has announced it will launch a new daily service from Dubai to Newark Liberty International Airport, via the Greek capital city of Athens, starting on March 12.

The new route complements Emirates’ existing four daily flights between Dubai and New York’s JFK airport.

Emirates’ new Dubai-Athens-Newark flight will also provide a year-round non-stop daily service between the #UnitedStates and #Greece – a service that does not exist today and has not existed since 2012.

Emirates brings daily A380 service to Sao Paulo

EMIRATES, voted the World’s Best Airline in the 2016 Skytrax World Airline Awards, has announced that it will operate the first ever scheduled commercial Airbus A380 flight to South America when it upgrades its Dubai (DXB) – Sao Paulo (GRU) service on March 26, 2017.

Replacing the existing Boeing 777-300ER used on this route, the A380 service will mark the airline’s 10th year of operations in Brazil, which it began with daily flights between Dubai and Sao Paulo in October 2007.

Emirates to launch new service to Fort Lauderdale

EMIRATES announced yesterday that they will launch a daily service between Dubai and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, on December 15.

This service will serve the South Florida area including Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and West Palm Beach. This will be Emirates’ 11th passenger route in the United States.

World's best airlines named

EMIRATES has been named the world's Best #Airline 2016 at the Skytrax World Airline Awards. The Dubai-based carrier also won the top award for the best in-flight entertainment for the 12th consecutive year, and the best airline in the Middle East. In total, Emirates has won 20 Skytrax World Airline Awards since 2001.

Thomson Airways took the Best Leisure Airline; Turkish Airlines was the Best European Airline; and Lufthansa won two accolades: Best in Western Europe and Best Transatlantic. Norwegian won Best Low Cost Airline in Europe for the fourth consecutive year.

This year's Skytrax awards were based on a total of 19.2 million completed surveys covering 280 airlines by passengers from more than 104 countries. It measures quality standards across 41 performance indicators of front-line products and services in the airline industry.

SPANISH airline AlbaStar has launched twice-weekly flights between Birmingham and Palma de Mallorca. The route will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

William Pearson, Birmingham Airport’s aviation director, said: ‘We are very pleased to be welcoming Alba Star, our twelfth new airline in the space of just over a year, to Birmingham Airport. 

Birmingham Airport recently reported that it handled more than one million passengers in May.

EASYJET will operate three additional routes from London Luton this winter … to Tenerife, Lanzarote, and Toulouse. It will operate twice a week to Lanzarote and Tenerife and four times a week to Toulouse.

PASSENGERS travelling to Melbourne, Australia, from the UK will have another direct option with Emirates announcing that flights EK408 and EK409 will begin operating as non-stop services from Dubai in October.  

The current service from Dubai to Melbourne operates via Kuala Lumpur in both directions. The flight changes will save passengers approximately two-and-half hours in travel time in each direction.
