THE Fan Museum in Greenwich has 4,000 fans dating from the 11th century to the present day. 

There are tours with the curators who give detailed insight into the art of fan making.

IF you need inspiration for your pet pooch’s first collar, head to Kent for a visit to the Dog Collar Museum in Leeds Castle, where you can see dog collar designs from the past five centuries. 

Dogs have always had an important presence in Leeds Castle – from hounds for hunting, gundogs and huge mastiffs to guard the gates, and lap dogs for the apartments of widowed queens.
