The move comes as the number of pets travelling on Brittany Ferries has increased for the sixth year in a row. They totalled 57,670 in 2014, up almost five percent on the previous year.
To cater for this growing demand, the company has expanded its range of pet-friendly gites, villas, campsites, and hotels to more than 800. And for travellers wanting to stay with their pet during the crossing to France and Spain, it offers pet-friendly cabins with laminated floors and room for dog baskets.
Says Christiane Barker at BF: ‘With the ever-increasing costs of boarding kennels in the UK, it makes sense to take the family pet with you on holiday, particularly as many properties make no charge. Being less stressful for the pet and more fun for the family, it’s a win-win for everyone.’
The company’s website (www.brittany-ferries.co.uk) has a pet-friendly property search option, plus a section giving information about the pet passport scheme.
