Legal status of e-cigarettes in Europe and surrounding areas - August 2014:
Green – Legal (including those countries where e-cigarettes are subject to age and/or advertising restrictions),
Yellow – E-cigarettes that contain nicotine are illegal. Only nicotine-free e-cigarette are legal.
Orange – De-facto illegal
Red – Illegal

The FAA said the notice followed information from the International Civil Aviation Organization about “several incidents” involving e-cigarettes in aircraft baggage holds, including at least one that resulted in a fire.
‘In several incidents both inside and outside the transportation industry, e-cigarettes have overheated or caught fire when the heating element was accidentally activated,’
Airlines are being advised to tell passengers that e-cigarettes and related devices can be transported only in aircraft cabins, ‘where overheating or fire can be observed and handled more quickly’.
