Greek tourism leaders welcome airports privatization

A DEAL to privatize 14 regional airports in #Greece has been welcomed by the country’s tourism industry.

The Greek government has signed a deal transferring control of the airports – which handle up to 22 million passengers a year – to Frankfurt Airport operator Fraport and Greek private contractor Copelouzos. The airports include Mykonos, Kos, Santorini, Kefalonia, Samos, Thessaloniki, Corfu, Rhodes, and Chania (Crete).

Fraport and its Greek partner have pledged to invest €330 million (£242 million) by 2020 to upgrade the airports.
