Game, Set and Bagel

AT Bruegger's Bagels, a bagel is an authentic, New York-style, kettle-boiled-then-baked ring of bread. But in #tennis, a "bagel" is a set that ends in 6-0. That's why Bruegger's is getting in on the U.S. Open fun and giving away bagels for "bagels."

If there's a "bagel" at any time during the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, or Finals of this year's men's, women's or doubles matches at the U.S. Open, Bruegger's will offer one free bagel and cream cheese to every member of its Bruegger's Bagels Inner Circle rewards program, redeemable from September 18-20.

Most Popular Destinations for Valentine's Travel

RESEARCH into the most popular destinations for #Valentine’s Day 2017 by Cheapflights, shows there most definitely will be “sex in the city” as #NewYork takes the number one spot for romance this year, pipping perennial favourites Paris, Amsterdam, Lisbon and Rome into second to fifth places respectively.

Barcelona, Munich and Milan also feature in the top 10 most-searched for flight destinations, with the notable additions of Reykjavik listed as seventh most-searched-for city and Marrakech coming in at number nine. Both the quirky Icelandic capital and the vibrant Moroccan walled city of Marrakech have soared in popularity compared to 2016 analysis.

“Brits are in love with New York, showing that the flow of news from the USA has failed to Trump our desire for a sexy slice of the Big Apple, said Andrew Shelton, Managing Director at Cheapflights.

“Paris is still firmly in the top ten, as are other tried and trusted romantic hotspots, and new additions to the top 10 – Reykjavik and Marrakech, which couldn’t be much farther apart in terms of experience – surely show that UK couples have a passion for adventure, as well as each other.”

NYC Black history month

THE Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhatten, Queens and Staten Island will all be honouring African-American history in New York City as part of February’s Black History Month.

Commemorating key moments, movements and figures in time, organizations across the five boroughs will host events, including discussions, museum and cultural tours, live entertainment and interactive kid-friendly activities.

"African-American history has shaped New York City’s history. This is where the Harlem Renaissance challenged cultural norms, hip-hop music was born and Jackie Robinson broke down baseball’s color barrier,” said Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company. “We invite New Yorkers and visitors to honor this history by engaging in informative events across the five boroughs."
