#PORTUGAL’S Algarve region has more to offer holidaymakers than golden sand beaches and sunshine.
As a region renowned for its exquisite #cuisine and fresh produce, the #Algarve is great for food lovers. Throughout the year, towns and villages celebrate many of the region’s traditional dishes and the history behind them. During the Caldeirada festival in June, restaurants showcase their interpretations of the classic Algarvian seafood dish. Olhão’s seafood festival and Portimão’s sardines fest – both in August – are some of the events that food lovers shouldn’t miss.
July’s Art Doce festival in Lagos runs over three days and celebrates the region’s marzipan and other artisan desserts.
In August, the annual medieval festival in Silves attracts large crowds. Over four days, there are battle re-enactments, street theatres, jousting tournaments, banquets, and medieval music.
