Off to Germany?

#GERMANY'S longest rope suspension bridge opened only in the autumn of 2015, but already thousands of visitors have walked its nerve-testing 1,200ft to enjoy the views of the Hunsrück Mountains in Rhineland-Palatinate from 300ft above the Geierlay Canyon floor.

Not far from the Luxembourg border, the village of Mörsdorf has a bridge visitor centre. Set in an unspoiled forest, the bridge hooks in to a series of easy hikes. Hikers see the bridge as they walk along the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig long-distance trail.

WITH eight nature parks in Rhineland-Palatinate, this could be Europe at its greenest. Clearly marked #hiking and #biking paths link castles, palaces, and villages. Nature lovers look for rare storks and shy wildcats while history buffs explore Roman and Celtic settlements.
