EASYJET is warning passengers that they must turn up for flights from Gatwick at least 30 minutes before departure or they will be turned away.
The airline has introduced the measure to try to improve punctuality at the airport, which is among the worst for delays.
Passengers are being told that if they're not at the gate at least 30 minutes before the flight departs, they won't be allowed to board. They will have to abandon their journey or pay a £80 fee to re-book on a later flight.
They will be warned of the change by a note on their boarding pass, saying: ‘Gatwick security control gates are automatically being timed to close 30 minutes before departure.’
Those whose boarding passes are scanned later than 30 minutes before departure will be sent back to the desk to re-book.
