Tourism news from India

ANDHRA PRADESH has opened a range of water sports and #adventure #tourism facilities. 

They include parasailing, jeep parasailing, para-motoring, water skiing, and speed boat rides.

In the adventure tourism sector, activities include waterfall rappelling, rock climbing, and high rope courses.

Neerabh Kumar Prasad, the state’s principal secretary for tourism, said: ‘We are extremely proud to announce the launch of a host of water sport and adventure tourism facilities in Andhra Pradesh. This launch will herald a new dimension in tourism in the state.’

Future plans include helicopter tourism and the opening of 33 hotels.

Jharkhand to develop mining tourism

THE government of Jharkhand, in eastern #India, is planning to develop mines into tourist spots. The state intends to re-develop closed and abandoned mines and promote them as tourist attractions.

The state’s tourism department also plans to promote its historic terracotta temples. Located in Maluti, the 78 distinctive temples were built between the 17th and 19th centuries.
