Gourmet trail takes touring to new heights – Air Adventure #Australia has introduced a new way to experience Australia’s gastronomic highlights. Linking together, by private aircraft, the Barossa, Adelaide Hills, and McLaren Vale in South Australia, with the Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, and Hobart, Freycinet Peninsula and Tamar Valley in Tasmania, the tour offers fine food, wine, and luxury. It includes gourmet cooking classes, oyster shucking, blending wine, and an introduction to fly fishing. The all-inclusive seven-night tour price is AU$10,532 (£5,000) per person twin share, based on eight guests.

Walk in the footsteps of aboriginal ancestors – Visitors to South Australia can head out with Quentin Agius from Aboriginal Cultural Tours in a Toyota Landcruiser to learn about the region’s indigenous heritage. Highlights include a stop at Federation Park outside of Port Wakefield to hear about the dreaming stories of the Adjahdura people as well as a visit to Quentin’s home at the Point Pearce Community. The full-day tour from Adelaide costs AU$150 (£72) per person.

Kangaroo Island - Lonely Planet lists #KangarooIsland as one of Australia’s top ten family-friendly destinations in the latest edition of its Travel with Children book, saying: ‘Big-ticket enticements for kids here include the stinky, grumpy residents at Seal Bay Conservation Park and the appropriately named Remarkable Rocks in Flinders Chase National Park. In between, you’ll find sand dunes (sandboarding!), surf beaches, pelican-feeding sessions, honey farms, fishing jetties, caves, and wildlife parks.’
