Egyptian tourism campaign

DURING the third quarter of 2014, tourism authorities in Egypt reported a 70 percent increase in the number of foreign tourist arrivals.

The recovery can in part be attributed to the lifting of travel warnings by European governments such as those in Germany, Belgium, and Italy.

While some countries are still issuing travel advisories against Egypt, the ministry of tourism has launched marketing campaigns in the Arabian Peninsula, Italy, UK, Russia, and Germany.

The Egyptian government has been doing its best to downplay the risks to the visitors. It says all tourist areas in the country are always under protection, irrespective of whether there is ongoing political violence or not.
