Church tours to shine a light on history

THE Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) – a national charity protecting historic churches at risk – has compiled a programme of Historic Church Tours across the country from May through to October.

Each of the nine tours will cover a thought-provoking theme – WWI, Lords and Gentry, and From The Romans to the Industrial Age – guaranteed to intrigue visitors with stories from England’s turbulent political and religious history.

The tours will be in areas of spellbinding natural beauty, providing the backdrop to these magnificent examples of precious historical architecture. Ancient churches in Worcestershire, Lincolnshire, Surrey, Shropshire, South Yorkshire, Suffolk, Wiltshire, West Sussex, and Somerset, will be featured.

Anyone with an interest in photography, culture, history, and architecture, or those who simply enjoy the pleasures of the English countryside, will be transfixed by the ancient wonders to be discovered throughout this year’s Historic Church Tours.
