MORE VISIT BRITAIN The UK saw record annual in-bound spend and
record numbers of visits in 2013. Overseas visitors spent a record £21 billion
in 2013, 13 percent up on the 2012 total. It is the first time the £20 billion
mark has been passed. There were 32.89 million visits from overseas in 2013,
six percent higher than the previous year.
Sandie Dawe, chief executive at VisitBritain said: “Not
only have we managed to surpass the £20 billion barrier for the first time, but
we’ve broken records for holidaymakers and visitors from key growth markets
such as China and South Korea. International tourists are starting to see and
do more across the country. Holiday figures are up across the whole of Britain
with robust growth for Scotland, Wales, the rest of England and London.
