Head for Hever

UPCOMING events at Hever Castle in Kent – the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I – include:

The Snowdrop Trail at Half Term:  February 15/28 (weather dependent) –
Follow a trail of thousands of snowdrops starting to emerge from their winter hibernation – the first sign that spring is just around the corner. Stroll through the gardens and enjoy the early blossoms of camellia and quince.

Living with Birds:  February 15 /23 – Give a bird a home during National Nest Box Week with The British Trust for Ornithology. Activities from bird box building to bird-spotting trail in the grounds.

Long Bow archery display:  April 12/13 – Archery displays featuring techniques that date back to medieval times. Demonstrations include practice displays, traditional morning musters and speed shooting at targets around the Hever estate.

Hever’s Home Front:  June 21/22 – Step back in time to the 1940s as re-enactors show what life and work was like during the Second World War. Visit the tea dance tent, explore vintage stalls, lean to swing-dance and see a life-size Spitfire. Come in 1940’s dress and round the day off with a traditional afternoon tea while model WWII planes buzz overhead.

Opening this May, a new permanent exhibition that looks at the life of Anne Boleyn and the connection to her childhood home.
