Gender battle for holiday choices

IT seems men want Mars and women Venus when it comes to choosing where to go on holiday. Research has revealed a battle of the sexes in terms of where men and women want to go on holiday in 2014 … so much so that it’s suprising men and women ever end up on the same holiday!

A survey by online travel agent Holiday Hypermarket found that men want to go to Turkey, Majorca, the Canary Islands, Egypt and Italy, while women fancy heading off to Thailand, the Caribbean, Florida, Mexico and the Maldives.

The same report suggests that the majority (58 percent) of women have booked the holiday for their family in 2014 though, so it seems men in the UK might be the ones compromising on the destination.

The findings highlight some other general trends. Men would opt for a European destination over and above a long haul holiday because they don’t like to travel for more than four hours. Women wouldn’t mind travelling for up to 12 hours to reach their
holiday destination.  Men feel ‘more at home’ when staying in short haul destinations and find going further afield ‘hard work’ on the plane.
