BUDAPEST has retained its position as the cheapest city break
destination in the Post Office Travel
Money survey of prices for UK tourists in 25 leading cities.
Research for the 2014 City Costs Barometer found that
prices in the Hungarian capital fell 11 per cent year-on-year, thanks to a
combination of accommodation costs and the stronger pound.
Lithuanian capital Vilnius is close behind, with Warsaw and Prague completing
a clean sweep for Eastern Europe.
Lisbon is again the best buy in the Eurozone, with prices lower than in 2013 for meals, accommodation
and sightseeing.
Stockholm is Europe's most expensive city with prices over three times
as high as in Budapest.
