A fest in the west

FOLLOWING a successful debut in St. Agnes, Cornwall, last year, the Outsid’er Weekend is back. The date this year is April 11-13.

Organiser Annie Lucas, from the St. Agnes Parish Chamber of Commerce, said: ‘Following such a foul winter, when all we wanted to do was rug up indoors, now more than ever is the time to re-engage with our fabulous Cornish landscape, and have fun with friends and family. We’ve been battered by the sea and buffeted by the winds – the coast around St. Agnes has taken a hammering – but we won’t be beaten.  The Outsid’er weekend is about showing what we’re made of and, in the process, supporting local businesses which have been affected by the terrible season so far this year.

‘This year there’s truly something for everyone with a range of free as well as ticketed events for all the family. It’s an event not to be missed!’

Attractions and events – for locals and visitors – include campfire cookery, sea-trash sculpture workshops, beach finds jewellery, wild food foraging, open air opera, rock-pooling, a beach-clean, sunset photography, a raft race, a beach brunch and a Star Party … star-gazing co-organized by the National Trust and Cornwall Astronomy Society. St. Agnes Head was awarded Dark Sky Status by the Science and Technology Facilities Council in January.
