And now … Europe’s Worst Airports!

AIRPORTS are not slow to waste vast amounts of money on publicity boasting of so-called “improvements” such as free Wi-Fi, expensive restaurants, children’s play areas and those wretched e-Passport gates.

We don’t hear so much about the things that make them hideous hell-holes.

Sleepinginairports.net helps out with its 2014 lists of the planet’s worst airports based on travellers’ votes, graded under the headings of  comfort (or lack thereof), inconveniences, cleanliness (or lack thereof), and zilch customer service.

Here are its Top 10 European airports. Italy scores very well with three of the worst; and – most surprisingly – Gatwick isn’t there!! Perhaps it was NO number 11?

1. Paris Beauvais-Tille, France
2. Frankfurt Hahn, Germany
3. Bergamo Orio al Serio, Italy
4. Berlin Tegel, Germany
5. Rome Ciampino, Italy
6. Barcelona Girona-Costa Brava, Spain
7. Paris Orly, France
8. London Luton, England
9. Warsaw-Modlin Mazovia, Poland
10. Rome Fiumicino, Italy
