Coming up in Orlando …more to amuse & amaze

VISIT ORLANDO is banking on a spate of new attractions to increase the number of UK tourists next year.

Multi-million dollar projects in the city are scheduled for completion in the next six months.

‘Orlando is going through one the most significant periods of expansion in its history,’ says Denise Speigel, director of global publicity for Visit Orlando.

In the spring, Merlin Entertainments is to open an entertainment complex called I-Drive 360. The facility will be built around a 425-foot observation wheel called The Orlando Eye, a slightly smaller version of the London Eye on the banks of the Thames.

A Madame Tussaud’s wax museum and Sea Life aquarium will also be based at the site.

Elsewhere in the city, the Walt Disney World Resort will open the first phase of Disney Springs (formerly known as Downtown Disney) towards the end of the first quarter of the year. It will have two upscale waterfront restaurants.
